March 17 – April 27, 2016

Australia’s renown Lighthouse photographer John Ibbotson and Yamba’s Light Up the Darkness Mental Health Advocacy Group join forces, capturing surprising connections; with lighthouses and mental health.

John’s is showcasing some of his favourite lighthouse photographs that have been the basis of three books, which have become the definitive reference guide to Australia’s lighthouses. They have also been used around the world in magazines, newspapers and books, advertising, calendars, the National Archives of Australia Beacons by the Sea exhibition, on three sets of Australia’s lighthouse stamps and in solo exhibitions.

When capturing the physical and natural beauty, these beacons of welcoming light have helped seafarers to safely reach calm waters and will now to give hope and inspiration to people living with mental illness.
