Town, Plans & Pioneers
This exhibition told the story of the establishment of Yamba when it was first surveyed and settled by its first citizens.
The display of maps, surveyor’s equipment and photographs depicted the hardships endured by both government surveyors and those pioneers who chose to live here and to develop the town of Yamba.
A more comprehensive version of the story is told in the newly released book From Clarence River Heads to Yamba by John McNamara to mark the 125th anniversary of the naming the town of Yamba. The book can be purchased for $15 by contacting the Museum.
