Special Exhibition Safe Passage: Pilotage on the Clarence River display

Town, Plans & Pioneers Exhibition

This exhibition tells the story of the establishment of Yamba when it was first surveyed and settled by its first citizens.

Town Plans & Pioneers Exhibition

The use of maps, surveyor’s equipment and photographs depicts the hardships and the equipment used by government surveyors and of the pioneers who chose to live here and to develop the town. Much of this history is very relevant today as it was in 1885.

A more comprehensive version of the story is told in the newly released book From Clarence River Heads to Yamba by John McNamara to mark the 125th anniversary of the naming the town of Yamba. The book can be purchased for $15 by contacting the Museum.
