AWARD WINNING MUSICIAN PERFORMS AT YAMBA MUSEUM
A Sunset session will be performed by Blake 'Teddy' Rhodes on the steps of 'The Old Kirk" at Yamba Museum, 5-7pm, Thursday 20th January, 2022. Audience participants are encouraged to bring a picnic rug for the free garden performance.
This unique performance was inspired by the Museum and Yaegl Cultural Garden during Blake's wet and wild residency in October 2021. The ethereal sounds bring the garden to life!
Blake Rhodes is a Bundjalung - Yaegl electronic hip-hop musician, composer and sound artist living in Lismore, NSW. After years of touring, recording and honing his craft as part of the Award-winning hip-hop trio Teddy Lewis King, in recent years Blake has developed his practice as independent MC/Producer "Mr Rhodes". Kicking off 2018 with a bang by dropping his debut single LOWLIGHT (2018), Blake has taken his innovative brand of electronic flavoured hip hop out of the bedroom and unleashed his perspective onto the world, releasing tracks TOOBLACK(2018), Wondrous (2020), Doing it Well, featuring Thomas Shaw (2020), supporting Winston Surfshirt and headlining multiple shows in Sydney and throughout regional NSW.
Blake cements himself as a promising new voice in Australian music and a force to be reckoned with in the electronic music scene and is a featured Triple J Unearthed artist. In 2020 Blake was awarded the prestigious Generations Fellowship to undertake a six-month residency at the Powerhouse Museum in collaboration with Create NSW and Astral People, gaining skills and knowledge in the music industry. In 2021 Blake was selected to participate in the Volunteer Museums Project at Yamba Museum as artist-in residence and continues to create, produce and record his lush beats and textural nerd grooves with many new releases expected in 2022.
