A visit to the Yamba Museum offers a deeper connection to the place we love. Here, you can step into the stories that shaped Yamba — from its rich maritime history and surf culture to the enduring traditions of the Yaegl people. Group Tours
We welcome any local community group or bus tour group to Yamba Museum. We are situated next to Yamba Golf & Country Club, a short distance from Yamba’s main shopping streets and three walking blocks from the Yamba/Iluka ferry wharf.
Yamba Museum opened in 1985 and has been enlarged with extensions to its buildings, gardens and facilities for community and special events. The museum’s permanent exhibition showcases the early development of Yamba and adjacent areas, focusing on its maritime, surfing, fish trawling, sugar cane, social and cultural heritage, with the Yaegl Cultural Garden greeting everyone at the entrance.
Art exhibitions in the Old Kirk (former 1921 Presbyterian Church donated in 2009 and attached to the museum building), change regularly with mixed media artworks offered for sale. The entrance fee for coach groups not only includes a guided museum tour but the bonus of an art exhibition or historical display.
Our guided tours cater for any size group over 15 (or as negotiated) and the packages vary.

Morning/Afternoon Tea - $8
Guided one-hour Town Tour on bus with guide/s - $5
Depending on numbers, the museum tour group will normally have two guides, and the morning/afternoon tea includes scones with jam and cream, friands, fruit, tea and coffee. We cater for gluten-free diets but any special milk and/or dietary requirements are the responsibility of the tour company.
We also have accessible car parking at the rear; concrete ramps; step-free access; double front doors with no steps; accessible toilets with sufficient space for wheelchair access; and strategically placed guard rails.
As volunteers at Yamba Museum, we are very proud of our museum, as it goes from strength to strength. We would love to see your tour group visit us so that we can regale them with all the past and present stories of our wonderful local area. School Groups welcome
We love welcoming school groups but we do need to be consulted beforehand. This is because we customise your visit to suit the different parts of the curriculum you are studying. We also organise with the Collection Team to temporarily use artefacts that are stored elsewhere. If required, we will also compile worksheets although we ask that you print off the necessary copies at your school.
Cost is $2 per student and we can have as many as four volunteer guides helping the school group as we focus on different displays.
Admission fees for students need to be paid prior to the event; accompanying teachers are free.
